What is B2B integration?
B2B integration is the process of expanding the scope of business-process automation to include elements of processes carried out by your trading partners. For example, many organizations receive their customers’ purchase orders electronically. They can then process them without retyping any data. This provides many benefits both in terms of reducing administrative costs and reducing the number of errors; it also accelerates the overall process and improves supply chain efficiency.
What are eBusiness conversations?
eBusiness conversations are business-process workflows between trading partners. A simple transaction between two trading partners is an eBusiness conversation. A complete flow of multiple, linked transactions between a few trading partners is another, more complex eBusiness conversation. For example: A purchase order issued by a customer to its supplier can generate a warehouse shipping order sent to third-party warehouse. This warehouse will then send a shipping confirmation that will be used by the supplier to generate an advanced shipping notice to the customer. InterTrade’s innovative eBusiness solutions intuitively understand that these transactions are linked and can help you monitor business exceptions in real time or measure the overall performance of your supply chain process.

Absolutely not. Our solutions can help you integrate with all your trading partners, regardless of the technology in use at their end. For corporations in the process of implementing new business applications, InterTrade also offers a proven methodology to ensure that they can maximize the benefits of their B2B integration as soon as they go live.

What is the difference between B2B and EDI?
Business to Business is the generic name for all types of electronic interactions between different corporations, regardless of the technology used. EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange and refers to specific sets of standards used for those exchanges. The two most common EDI standards are ANSI X.12, used mostly in North America, and UN/EDIFACT, used mostly in Europe.
Is this a business project or a technical project?
Many see the implementation of B2B/EDI integration as a technology project. In fact, B2B/EDI integration has at least as great an impact on the business itself as it does on its technology. It is therefore extremely important to thoroughly examine these impacts and make sure that all affected components of the business are aware of the changes and trained for their participation in the new processes. InterTrade has developed a strong B2B/EDI project methodology covering both business and technology aspects. It has proven to be very effective in many industries by providing a complete and well documented path to B2B/EDI success. |
